Following the path of least resistance is what makes man and river crooked

In my class there are many students. Some are called nini, nani, kiki, kaka, kuku etc… haha..nick names are always interesting.

Nini met me yesterday, telling about problems related to her research project. The due date is very near and she still has lots to do.  After some feedback and discussion, she said that somebody advised her to “create” results for the research works. So, I asked her, “How do you feel? Do you think you are up to it? Can you live happily for the rest of you life knowing that you cheated in your education? How would you value your qualification?”  Of course she said no, otherwise  she wouldn’t even brought the matter to my knowledge.

This is just an example in life where a person might be tempted to avoid resistance and follow the easier path. Man should stick to the right principle and persevere through it. At the end of the road, he will surely be proud of himself. And that’s what’s matter – believing in oneself.

But please don’t get me wrong, you can avoid resistance. There are times when we should be looking for the easiest alternatives. After all that is what optimization is about, finding optimal path. What is important is that the path has got to be the right one, the allowable one based on required standard, something that you wouldn’t be ashamed of, to tell others.
